How Our Jail & Prison Notary Service Works

Correctional facilities have their own procedures and requirements for outside visitors and notaries. We help make the process easier by working with you to gather the information needed before the appointment.

1. Contact Us

Tell us the name of the correctional facility, the inmate's information, the type of document that needs to be notarized, and your preferred appointment timing.

2. Confirm Facility & Facility Requirements

Your loved ones exact location will need to be confirmed. Sometimes inmates are moved to different facilities. We will discuss the information and procedures that may apply to the facility. Facility access and appointment procedures are determined by the correctional facility and may vary.

4. Schedule the Notarization

Once the necessary information is confirmed, we'll coordinate the appointment and work with the facility to get the notarization completed, depending on the facilities visitation protocols and visiting hours.

6. Complete the Notarization

The inmate must personally appear before the notary and satisfy California's identification and other notarization requirements. California law specifically recognizes certain inmate identification issued by CDCR or a sheriff's department as acceptable identification under specified circumstances. If it is possible we may ask for you to provide us with your loved ones legal ID.

Please do not send us an original document or schedule an appointment until we have discussed the facility requirements with you. Correctional facilities control access, visiting procedures, and scheduling requirements.

3. Document Review

We will ask for a picture of the documentation that you need your loved one to have notarized for review (We are not attorneys and can not provide advice on any documents)

5. Get us the Document

You will get us the original document needing notarization. We will either meet you outside the correctional facility, or meet you at a predesignated location, you can ship it to us, or depending on the document, often times this can be emailed to us and we will print it.

7. Delivery of Documents

After the notarization is complete, we will get the notarized document back to you in whatever method we have pre-arranged.
