What to Know Before Scheduling a Hospital Notary Appointment

To help the appointment go as smoothly as possible, please keep the following in mind before scheduling your mobile notary visit.

1. The Signer Must Be Present

The person whose signature needs to be notarized must personally meet with the notary. A family member cannot sign on the person's behalf unless the document and circumstances legally permit it, and the appropriate signer is personally present for the notarial act.

2. The Signer Must Be Willing to Sign

The signer must be willing to sign the document. If the notary has concerns about willingness, the notarization cannot proceed.

3. Identification Is Required

Please have an acceptable form of identification available. If the signer does not have acceptable identification, contact us before scheduling so we can discuss whether another method of establishing identity may be available under California law.

4. Coordinate With the Facility

Please check with the hospital, nursing facility, or healthcare provider regarding visitor access and any procedures that may affect the appointment. Facility policies may vary.
